Dressing Forceps, also known as thumb forceps or pickups, are surgical instruments characterized by their long, thin handles and serrated tips. They are typically used when dressing wounds where they hold gauze and other dressings. They may also be used during wound debridement to remove infected or necrotic tissue or debris from the wound. They may be used for suturing when needle holders are not accessible. Dressing forceps are designed to grip delicate tissue without causing damage, and they are often used in situations where precision and control are important. These dressing forceps have straight blades and rounded (blunt) tips. They are available in various sizes: 12.5 cm (5"), 15.5 cm (6.1"), 25.5cm (10"), or 30.5 (12") long. These dressing forceps are manufactured with surgical grade stainless steel or premium German steel, making them suitable for sterilization by autoclave or chemical sterilants.

Bishop Harmon Iris Forceps are a pair of surgical forceps (tweezers) often used in ophthalmic procedures. They are designed specifically for use in the anterior portion of the eye to reach structures like the iris. Iris forceps are a small pair of forceps (9cm long) with a fine tip for grasping delicate tissue with minimal trauma. You can choose between serrated tips and tips with a 1x2 tooth configuration. The narrow, serrated jaws of the surgical forceps allow for fine manipulation of structures like the iris of the eye. The 1x2 teeth give a secure grip of delicate structures with minimal trauma. Researchers like these fine tipped tweezers for precision work in microdissection. These forceps are have straight tips. The Iris Forceps are manufactured with surgical grade stainless steel, premium German steel, or titanium, all of which are autoclavable. WPI recommends properly cleaning all your surgical instruments promptly after use.

Micro Mosquito Forceps, also known as microsurgical mosquito forceps or micro hemostatic forceps, are designed for extremely delicate and precise surgical procedures. Micro Mosquito Forceps are significantly smaller in size compared to regular mosquito forceps. These are 12.5 cm (5") long with fine tips. Looking at the end of the tip of one blade of these forceps, the dimensions are 0.4 mm thick and 0.8 mm wide.

Iris forceps are a pair of surgical forceps (tweezers) often used in ophthalmic procedures. In the early 1800s, a Johann Friedrich Horner, a German ophthalmologist, began design surgical instruments specifically for use in the eye. The result of his work became one of the earliest iris forceps. Iris forceps are a small pair of forceps with a fine pointed tip for grasping delicate tissue with minimal trauma. The narrow jaws of these surgical forceps allow for fine manipulation of structures like the iris of the eye. These forceps are 10cm long with 0.8mm tips, and they come with straight or curved tips. These Iris Forceps have teeth (1x2). One blade has one tooth and the other has two. The blades align so that the teeth fit together. If the tissue to be grasped is slippery or hard to hold, surgical forceps with teeth offer a firmer grasp. However, the teeth may cause some tissue damage.

Halsted (or Halstead) Mosquito Forceps, also called mosquito hemostatic forceps or simply hemostats, are surgical instruments designed for clamping blood vessels or other small tissues to control bleeding during surgery or to provide a secure grip. They are so named because they resemble the slender legs of a mosquito. Life science researchers like these fine hemostats because of the secure grip and the ability to manipulate them in confined spaces. Mosquito Forceps have long, thin, and straight or curved jaws that taper to a fine tip. The jaws are serrated for a firm grasp with minimal tissue trauma. The handles of mosquito forceps have a ratchet lock to secure your grasp once it is engaged.

The Rochester-Oschner Hemostat, created in the 1950s by Drs. Edward W. Ochsner and Frank J. Tornetta at the Rochester General Hospital, features a serrated jaw on one blade and a straight, smooth jaw on the other. This Rochester-Oschner Hemostatic Forceps has a serrated jaw for gripping and holding tissue. This pair has two serrated blades, while others have one smooth blade. The instrument is made of high-quality stainless steel, which provides durability and corrosion resistance. It is also available in various sizes.
The Rochester-Oschner Hemostat ensures precise and controlled hemostasis. The serrated jaw allows for a firm grip on tissue, which minimizes the risk of slippage or damage to surrounding structures. Its compact size makes it a good choice for applications like general surgery, orthopedic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, and neurosurgery.

Filter Forceps are surgical instruments designed for the placement, manipulation, or removal of filters like those used in the inferior vena cava (IVC). These filters are placed in the IVC to prevent blood clots from traveling to the lungs in patients at risk of pulmonary embolism. A life science researcher might use these forceps for handling delicate or small samples, for gel handling, for microdissection involving delicate tissue or small structures, or for assembly/disassembly of fragile components. These Filter Forceps are 11 cm (4.3") long with straight, flat jaws and a synthetic, polypropylene fiber grip.
